Take I-64 exit 256-B in Newport News onto Victory Blvd. east toward Poquoson. Proceed to the seventh (7^th) traffic light and turn left onto Calthrop Neck Road and go 1/2 mile. Turn right into Old Port Cove. Go to the first street on the right. The clubhouse is the first building on the right.

Cross the Coleman Bridge across the York River at Gloucester Point southbound on Rt. 17 into York County and continue south to Victory Blvd. (WalMart will be on the right). Turn left and go to the 3^rd light at Calthrop Neck Road. Then follow directions as above.

Kathy Mounts recognized for 20 years of service with York County

Board of Supervisors Chairman George Hrichak recently congratulated Senior Legal Assistant Kathy Mounts on her 20 years of service with York County.

 

Mounts started with York County in 1991 as a Secretary I, where she quickly assumed responsibility for the Juvenile and Domestic Relations General District Court, primary reception, the closing of Circuit Court files, revocation of probation cases and determinations as Habitual Offender.

 

In February 1992 she was promoted to Secretary III and took over responsibility for the General District Court in addition to her other duties. In 1998 she was promoted to Legal Assistant, where she took the initiative to cross-train, learning all the functions of the other support staff in the office.

 

"Without ever having to be asked, Kathy took responsibility for taking over the duties of any of the support staff that was out of the office," said Commonwealth's Attorney Eileen Addison. "She was the first employee in the office to be qualified for and promoted to Senior Legal Assistant under the Career Ladder Plan in June of 2005."

 

Mounts was named Employee of the Quarter in 1993.

 

"Her dedication to the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office and the citizens of York County and Poquoson is unparalleled, and it has been an honor to have worked with her for these 20 years," Addison said.

Breakfast with Santa to be held on Saturday, Dec. 10

Santa and Mrs. Claus invite all the good boys and girls to a festive event featuring lots of children's holiday fun. 

 

Breakfast with Santa will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10,at 8:30 a.m. at Riverwalk Restaurant in Historic Yorktown. 

 

Kids and families of all ages can enjoy a kid-friendly breakfast, visit with Santa to discuss their Christmas wish lists, interact with Santa's helpers, sing-along with roaming carolers, and enjoy story time with Mrs. Claus. Don't forget to bring your cameras to capture this unique holiday moment. Tickets are $17.95 per person (children age two and under are free).

 

Tickets are available now. Purchase tickets in person at Riverwalk Restaurant or with a credit card by calling 875-1522. This holiday event has limited seating and may fill up quickly.
